((For those of you who either join late, or just don't see the thread until a few pages into it, as in all classes, just pretend you were there before. Its up to you if you still want to join the thread after more than 6 pages. I know some people don't like to go through everything to read what's happening.)) Jack smiled as he walked into his classroom and got his equipment and everything ready for the first lesson of the year. He had been excited to begin work at Hogwarts and couldn't wait to experience what it was like to be on the opposite side of the lesson. The classroom was rather large, as needed for duels, but they weren't going to dive straight into that just yet. He decided they should start off with the basics and just practice together as a group until the students were skilled enough to fight one on one without taking someone's eyes out.

Landon walked into the classroom for the first Duelling Club lesson. He had to admit, he was pretty excited to begin learning about more magic. The books that he had read about basic spells only had limited effects. He wanted to be able to try the magic with his wand, for real now. He sat down, eagerly awaiting the start of the lesson. He flashed a smile at the professor, to greet him and then pulled out a book and began reading while he waited.

Adam walked into the Dueling Club with Donny and Rich on either side of him.
They sat down in the very back row of the seating arrangements. Adam put his feet on top of his desk. Donny and Rich pulled out some straws and starting spitting spitballs at the boy who was reading. They got ready to put away the straws in case the teacher or boy turned around.

Landon turned around when he felt the spitballs hit his back. He shook his head in annoyance and rolled his eyes at the triplets, who seemed to be the culprits. They had a few half ripped up piece of paper on their desks. He ignored them and turned to the girl who had just sat down beside him, "Hey! How's it going?"

Landon saw the girl he had met the day before in the common room, "Hey, Kristin! What's up?" He greeted her. He felt another spitball hit his back. One more...and he'd make sure they wouldn't throw another one....

Mystie charged into the classroom and slammed the door after her. She had her foot in an empty box of tissues, her arm through the handle of a kettle, and had a cork screw caught up in her dark hair. Cackling laughter could be heard from behind the door of the duelling classroom. "Peeves..." she muttered, opening the door back up for the other students, and taking a seat near to the triplets, she wasn't concentrating on where she was sitting, she was more interested in getting the kettle off of her arm.
She sat back, and set about getting the kettle off of her arm.

"Nothing much. Just wondering what the three munkins in the back are planning on doing after they stop throw spitballs." said Kristin shrugging. "What about yourself?"

Landon shrugged, "Nothing much really. I'm excited for my first class. Finally learn some real stuff." He grinned, eagerly.

Jack smiled at each of the students as they walked in. Regretfully, he had smiled at the three triplets, who now were throwing spitballs at the poor kid with the brown hair. "There will be no spitball throwing in this class." He said firmly. "Unless of course you want a one way ticket to detention. Which, I warn you, will not be pretty."

Jack looked around and saw a fair amount of students had already arrived, so he figured he might as well go ahead and begin class. "Okay, everyone, quiet down now." He began, "Welcome to the first Duelling Club lesson of the year. I'm going to be your teacher, Professor Jack Graves, for the remainder of the year and possibly a few years to come. You can call me Professor Graves, Jack, Graves, whatever floats your boat. However, I do ask that no one try and cause mischief or trouble, because you will be punished. And, I will only say this once, you do not want to get detention in my class." He said, almost laughing at the statement. But he didn't want to scare the kids just yet.
"But anyways, the point of this class is to learn to strengthen and enhance your fighting and defending skills with magic. Unlike most of the other classes, pretty much everything we do here is hands-on. But today, we are just going to be getting to know each other and at the end of class we'll break off into pairs and practice one of the most basic spells you'll ever learn. So first, we'll start off by learning everyone's names and a bit about them. So just say your name, house, and a hobby to begin with." He finished. He wanted this class to be personal, unlike most of the other classes. He wanted it to be special and fun, not just a class you have to take in order to graduate. He smiled at the students, "And I suppose we'll start with you, miss." Jack nodded at the brown-haired girl sitting with the other girl and boy.

Layla listened to her teacher's speech. She was a little excited, most of her excitement faded from lack of sleep. PLus, this morning had ben a bad one- her famous migraines had kicked in. For a kid, they were kind of rare, and they were incredibly intense. She squinted; the light was annoying her.
